Dean Charles Krieg

COSTA RICA – Dean Charles Krieg, 52 of Grecia, Costa Rica, passed away Aug. 3, 2013, from a fatal car accident.

Dean was born May 1, 1961, in Marquette, the son of Charles and Lorrayne (Bakken) Krieg.

Following graduation from Escanaba Area High School, he earned a business degree from Northern Michigan University and his master’s in business administration from Memphis State University. He married Carol Westenberg in 1985 and lived in Escanaba with children Emily and Matthew while serving as business manager at U.P. Opthamology.

Upon moving to Costa Rica, Dean owned and managed a car rental business for eight years. He will be remembered by family and friends for his voice and love of singing gospel music and karaoke.

He is survived by his children, Emily of Escanaba, and Matthew of Eau Claire, Wis.; father, Chuck (Alana) Krieg; mother, Lorrayne Krans; brother, Scott (Kristina) Krieg; half brother, Joshuah of Green Bay; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his half brother, Nathan Pollard, and grandparents, Charles and Edith Krieg, and Olaf and Lois Bakken.

Burial will be in the Rapid River Cemetery. There will be a graveside service for the family with Rev. Robert Derheim, pastor of the New Life Assembly.
