Warren Juel Lee

ESCANABA – Warren Juel Lee, 85, of 2509 5th Avenue South, Escanaba, passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Dec. 4, 1927, in Escanaba and was the son of Juel and Naomi (Peterson) Lee.

Warren attended school in Escanaba and was a member of the graduating Class of 1946. He continued his formal education at Lawrence College in Appleton, Wis., for two years, then transferring to Walker Business College receiving his degree in business.

On Aug. 12, 1950, Warren married the former Joan Flanagan in Escanaba. The couple recently celebrated 63 years of marriage.

In August of 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict as PFC in the Signal Corps in Germany. Warren was honorably discharged in July of 1953. He was employed as Executive Vice President of Bird’s Eye Veneer in Escanaba for 42-years retiring in 1993.

Warren was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba where he served as an Elder for nine years, life-member of Elks Lodge No. 354, American Legion, secretary/treasurer for 25 years of the Hardwood Veneer Association, and a member of the Lake Bluff Golf and Country Club. In his spare time, Warren was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by: wife, Joan, Escanaba; son, Marc (Joan) Lee of Reedsburg, Wis.; daughters Judy Urrutia, Thousand Palms, Calif., Barbara (Tom) Agerter of Escanaba; grandchildren, Shannon, Erin, and Jonathon Lee, Naomi and Alex Urrutia, Marina Johnnesson and Lucas Agerter; great-grandchild, Ruby Renee Montelongo; sister, Gloria (Jack) Hansley-Cook and nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded death by: his parents Juel and Naomi, brother, Russell Lee, and sister Virginia Lee

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Warren Juel Lee will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Scott White officiating. A luncheon will follow the funeral service in the church fellowship hall.
