Dennis C. Simonsen
ESCANABA – Dennis C. Simonsen, 71, of Whispering Pines East Adult Foster Care Home, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He was born January 13, 1942, in Detroit, and was the son of Edwin and Sigrid (Pasi) Simonsen.
Dennis moved from Detroit to Upper Michigan with his family and lived in many different foster care homes until moving to Whispering Pines, which Dennis loved.
He had a special bond with his caregivers Renee and Kathy.
Dennis C. Simonsen is survived by: mother, Sigrid Simonsen of Perkins; sister, Delores (Richard) Aper of Negaunee; bothers, Stephen (Vicki) Simonsen of Dallas, Ore., Gary (Bonnie) Simonsen of Mountain, Wis., Kenneth (Mary) Simonsen of Perkins; 17 nieces and nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Simonsen, in 1955 and father, Edwin Simonsen, in 2002.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Dennis C. Simonsen will be held at noon Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen Gauger officiating. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following the burial services at the Family Inn in Wells. In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Whispering Pines East Adult Foster Home.
