Rose Mary Johnson

ESCANABA – Rose Mary Johnson, 83, of Escanaba, passed away at Marquette General Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, after a lengthy illness.

She was born on June 10, 1930, in Escanaba.

Rose was the daughter of Adolph and Flora (Gagne) Sarasin. She graduated from Escanaba High School and was a lifelong resident of Escanaba. On Nov. 7, 1953, Rose married Robert W. Johnson. He preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1997.

Rose worked for the Escanaba School System as a cafeteria aide and custodian. Rose always had a kind word for people and took a great joy and interest in the lives and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed time spent with family, friends and loved ones and will be greatly missed. Rose was a member of St. Thomas Church.

Survivors include three sons, Wayne (Gail) of Gladstone, Michael (Barbara) of Union, Ky., and Gary (Patti) of Bark River; daughter, Cheryl (Tom) Johnson of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Christopher, Sara, and Wesley; and one great-grandchild, Akira. She is also survived by two sisters, Pat (Charles) Ustine, and Phyllis (Michael) Summers; two sisters-in-law, Nora Sarasin and Millie Sarasin; brothers-in-law, Wallace Johnson and Dave (Sherri) Johnson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond, Alfred “Bud” and sister, Elaine.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon at St. Thomas Church with Rev. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery
