Virginia L. Weber

GLADSTONE – Virginia L. Weber, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at her loving daughter Diane’s home.

She was born on June 14, 1924, in Escanaba, daughter of Joseph H. and Blanche (Cabillot ) Peltier. Virginia attended St. Joseph High School and graduated in 1942.

On June 1, 1946, Virginia married Clarence R. Weber. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2008.

She worked for many years as a waitress at the Elks Club and the Escanaba Country Club. Virginia was also a receptionist beginning in the early 1960s for many years at the Delta County Credit Union, retiring in December of 1989.

Virginia was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was very social, always quick with a smile and enjoyed visiting with everyone she met. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church, Eagles Club and Elks Lodge 354. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events and going to the casino. She especially enjoyed those special trips she took with her sister Theresa and those with her best friend Betty.

Among survivors include her daughter, Diane (Mike) Noel of Gladstone; sons, Richard (Denise) Weber of Bark River, Dennis (Priscilla) Weber of Gladstone, Dale Weber of Wauceda, Mich., and James Weber of Ford River; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Peltier of Escanaba; and sister, Carol (Roger) Johnson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard and Leonard; and sisters, Marcella and Theresa.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6 p.m. at St. Anne’s Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Weber family.
