ESCANABA – Marvin Mosier, 64, of 1401 N. 23rd St., Escanaba, Mich., passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.
Marvin was born Dec. 20, 1948, in Escanaba, Mich., the son of Carl and Genevieve (Laundre) Mosier. He was raised in Rapid River where he was a 1967 graduate of Rapid River High School. Following graduation, Marvin served his country in the U.S Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge from Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he worked in Ferndale, Mich., before retiring to Escanaba four years ago.
Marvin was past post commander for the Madison Heights American Legion. He was also a life member of the V.F.W., AMVETS, Eagles and the Teamsters. Marvin was an avid Detroit Tigers and Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed taking rides to watch eagles and deer.
Survivors include: brothers, Lew (Marland) Mosier and Dan (Susan) Mosier, both of Escanaba; sisters, Nancy (Ted) Ramsey and Sandy LaCosse, both of McKinney, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend “Pete the rabbit.”
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents.
Marvin’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 1 to 2:45 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military rites conducted by the Gladstone American Legion Post 71 will follow at 2:45 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier of St. Anthony/St. Thomas Catholic Church officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Rapid River American Legion Post Burial will take place at 5 p.m. at the Rapid River Cemetery.
