Esther L. Johnson
RAPID RIVER – Esther L. Johnson, 98, of the Elder Inn in Rapid River, (formerly of Gladstone), passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at the Elder Inn in Rapid River.
Esther was born Sept. 29, 1914, in Pentoga, Mich., the daughter of Edward and Anna (Drafts) Camps. She was raised in Nahma where she was a 1931 graduate of Nahma High School. She moved to Gladstone in 1941 where she worked as a nurses aide and a clerk for many years. Esther was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gladstone and later St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rapid River.
Survivors include her sons, Norman (Sandy) Boutilier of Gladstone and Raymond Boutilier of Melbourne, Fla.; daughter, Myrna Besson of Boise, Idaho; sister, Marcella Camps of Stambaugh, Mich.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ether was preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon Boutilier; second husband, Walter Johnson; son, Norbert; grandson, Mark; granddaughter, Elizabeth; and several brothers and sisters.
Private visitation and services will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with Rev. Philip Paustian officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the Johnson family.
