Richard ‘Sach’ Arnell

IRON RIVER – Richard “Sach” Arnell, 75, of Iron River, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Northstar Health System of Iron River.

He was born Aug. 25, 1938, in Iron River, son of the late Lester C. and Blanche B. (Richards) Arnell. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1957.

Sach married the former Lisa Ferguson on June 7, 1997, in Kenosha, Wis., and the couple made their home in Iron River.

He was a member of the West Iron District Fire Department, Ducks Unlimited, the Tavern League of Wisconsin, and lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. He was also a former Iron River city commissioner. Sach was self-employed in construction for many years, owned and operated the High Sacheral in Stambaugh for several years, and in 1994 he bought Sach’s Rendezvous of Tipler, Wis., which he owned and operated to the present day.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Lester C. Arnell Jr.

Sach is survived by his wife, Lisa; sons, Paul and Rick Peterson of California; sisters, Donalda Ann Hammersmith of Milwaukee; and Dr. Ellen M. Arnell-Marcell of Escanaba; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Members of the West Iron County Firemen’s Association will pay their respects with a walk-through at 6 p.m.

Visitation will also be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home. Pastor John Fish will officiate.

Pallbearers are Larry Peters, Jim LaRock, Ollie Putz, Mark Gasperini, Art Flancher, and Mike Henschel.

Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
