Carol Jean ‘Heckel’ Wetthuhn
MARINETTE – Carol Jean “Heckel” Wetthuhn, 75, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013. Carol was born on June 23, 1938, in Marinette, to Herman and Hazel (Kaltenbach) Heckel. On June 22, 1972, Carol married Donald Wetthuhn of Daggett and last year they celebrated their 40th anniversary surrounded by family and friends.
Carol was a dedicated and caring nurse who was admired by both peers and those she cared for. Her dedication in caring for others was apparent by her selfless willingness to offer her home, her time and her skills to anyone in need. Carol was a committed nurse who worked at St. Joseph Lloyd Hospital and St. Francis Hospital for 41 years. She was an active member of St. Bruno’s Catholic Church, former member of Mid County Rescue Squad, Carney Nadeau Booster Club and current volunteer at Roubal’s Nursing Home. Carol’s purpose in life upon retirement was caring for her family, particularly her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed camping with family.
Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of husband, Donald; children, Tom (Tammy) Wetthuhn, Gladstone, Lynn (Steve) Kedsch, Daggett; her brothers, Terry (Marge) Heckel, Menominee, Skip (Lois) Heckel, Marinette and Richard (Carla) Heckel, Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Olivia, Taylor, Aleyna, Samantha, Alexa and Briahna, as well as MyKaela and Krystal whom referred to her as “Auntie Grandma.” She is further survived by Josh Grenier “son”, Bloomington, Ind., and Donna Wetthuhn “sister” and best friend of Daggett and Donna’s children, Jan, Jill, and, Judi who referred to her as their second mom.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Ronald.
Visitation celebrating the life of Carol Wetthuhn will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Nadeau, Mich., on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 3 p.m. (CST) until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 5 p.m. (CST) with Father Timothy Ekaitis officiating.
Burial will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Oakwood, Mich. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
