Manistique Chorus gears up for fall concert
MANISTIQUE – The newly formed Manistique Community Chorus, that made its debut at the spring Glee Concert, is presenting an afternoon of music on Sunday, Oct. 13, 3:30 p.m. at the Manistique High School Auditorium.
“Homeward Bound” is the theme for the fall concert and it will include anthems and songs that focus on the theme of homecoming and harvest time. Included are familiar melodies from several spirituals such as “Deep River” and “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” The audience will be invited to join the chorus in some familiar songs as well.
The chorus is directed by James Russey and accompanied by Ginger Stark. In addition to the chorus members, the concert will feature Heidi Troyer, violin, and Mary Louisa Kolch, piano. The chorus is made up of local folks who are dedicated to making music and sharing it with the community. The public is invited to come to an enjoyable hour of great music performed by friends and neighbors as they celebrate the changing season. There will be an opportunity to contribute donations to help the chorus continue making music in Manistique.
