Roger M. Finlan
HUDSONVILLE – Roger M. Finlan, 69, of Hudsonville, Mich. passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at Trillium Woods-Faith Hospice.
Roger was a lifelong educator, a teacher, high school principal and GVSU instructor. He was diagnosed with MDS in 2011, leading to leukemia in January of 2013. Roger spent months on the Bone Marrow Transplant floor at U of M, receiving a successful stem cell transplant in May, thanks to his loving sister Mary Jo Landry, his perfect match. Roger beat the cancer, but unexpectedly had complications in the form of a rare virus.
Roger’s family, including his wife Pat; daughters, Kristy (Chris), and Erinn (Jon), and son Ross (Brooke); grandchildren, Hannah, Ava, Jack and Lleyton; will join family and friends to celebrate his life and legacy on Saturday Oct. 5, from 1-4 p.m. at Moss Ridge Golf Club, 1345 Apple Ave., Ravenna, Mich. The memorial gathering will begin at 1 p.m. followed by food, drinks and stories.
In lieu of flowers, the family would love to see you donate a pint to the Red Cross, sign up for “Be the Match” or send monetary donations to the Bone Marrow Transplant Department at the University of Michigan in Roger’s name.
