Helen R. Tuttle
GERMFASK – Helen R. Tuttle, 73, of 846 Ten Curves Road, Germfask, passed away Saturday afternoon, Sept. 28, 2013 at her home.
She was born Jan. 26, 1940 in Manistique, the daughter of Ovid and Jennie (Archey) Swisher. Helen attended grade school in Germfask and high school in Newberry.
On Aug. 2, 2009, she married Jim Tuttle. Jim preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2011.
Helen spent the greater part of her life in Oregon, where she raised her family. She worked for many years as a supervisor of housekeeping in various hospitals.
She loved quilting and knitting. Her children remember fondly wearing many knitted scarves and hats, made with mom’s loving hands while they were growing up. Helen will always be remembered for her special handmade knitted Easter chickens she made for family and friends.
Helen is survived by: her children, Mallory Sump and Roger Sump, both of Oregon, David Sump of Germfask, Clayton Sump of Japan, Victoria Everett of Ala., Rose Rowlette of Germfask and Ellena Forbus of Oregon; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jennie Latch and Barb Mannlein; and brothers, Andy, Larry, and Reuben Swisher.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Duane Sump; and 3 brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Germfask, with the Rev. Arthur Bode officiating.
Burial will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Germfask.
Following the service a potluck will be held at the Germfask Community Center.
