Mary ‘Mary Lou’ L. Grondine

ESCANABA – Mary “Mary Lou” L. Grondine, 83, Escanaba, passed away Wednesday evening Oct. 9, 2013, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.

She was born on Jan. 25, 1930 in Escanaba, the daughter of the late Henry and Lillian (Belongie) Beaumier. On July 12, 1969 she married Joseph Grondine at St. Anne’s Parish in Escanaba.

Mary graduated from St. Joseph High School and was a lifelong member of St. Anne’s Parish. She was employed at Kreskes Department Store, Northern Michigan Bank as a teller and secretary and the Operating Engineers Local 324. Mary enjoyed knitting sweaters, cake decorating and traveling with her husband throughout their marriage.

She is survived by her husband; her son, Joseph H. (Tracy) Grondine; one brother, John (Mary Jane) Beaumier; one sister, Betty (Arnold) Taylor; four grandchildren, Lauren, Allison, Megan and Jack Grondine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Lionel Beaumier; one sister, Marcella Flagstad; and a sister-in-law, Violet Beaumier.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at St. Anne’s Parish in Escanaba. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday at church with Fr. Francis DeGroot officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass in the church parish hall. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
