Mary Jo Johnson
ESCANABA – Mary Jo Johnson, 57, of Escanaba, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 9, 2013, at the Marquette General Hospital.
Mary Jo was born April 22, 1956, in Escanaba, the daughter of Lawrence and Barbara (Garvey) Johnson. She was raised in Gladstone and attended the Gladstone schools. Throughout her life, Mary Jo was employed in the dietary department at Christian Park Health Care Facility in Escanaba. In addition, she volunteered many hours of her time as a foster grandparent at Holy Name School. Mary Jo enjoyed crocheting, walking and spending time with her loving grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include son, Dean (Sarah) Godfrey of Gladstone; brothers, Raymond (Martha) Johnson of Grayslake, Ill., Mike Johnson of California; grandchildren, Kayla, Lindsey and Lucas Godfrey; nephew, Ron Ketcham of Gladstone; niece, Lisa Ketcham of Gladstone.
Also surviving are additional nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Barbara; sister, Sue Ketcham.
Mary Jo’s family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mary Jo Johnson will follow visiting hours at 4 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski of All Saints Church officiating. Mary Jo will be laid to rest in the Rapid River Cemetery. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting Mary Jo’s family with arrangements.
