Man gets prison for theft
ESCANABA – A Gladstone man was recently sentenced to up to seven and a half years in prison for stealing a motorcycle in Garden Township last year, according to court records.
Ray Gidean-John Potter, 19, of 501 Montana Ave., Gladstone, was arrested by the Delta County Sheriff’s Department on Aug. 19 in connection with the June 2012 theft of a KTM motorcycle.
During sentencing in Delta County Circuit Court, Potter was ordered to spend one and a half years to up to seven and a half years in prison on one felony count of receiving and concealing stolen property valued at $1,000 to $20,000.
He was also ordered to pay $488 in fines and costs.
Potter was sentenced as a habitual offender, second offense notice, on the above count due to a conviction for stealing a vehicle in Delta County in February 2012.
The recent sentencing was postponed, in part, because Potter had been serving time in a Wisconsin jail on charges of reckless driving and attempting to flee from police.
