William Melvin Beranek

CARNEY – William Melvin Beranek, 63, Carney, passed away Monday evening, Oct. 14, 2013, at his home in Carney. He was born on May 11, 1950, in Madison, Wis., to Melvin and Lorraine (Normington) Beranek. On Sept. 24, 1977, he married the former Rebecca Hoffman in O’Fallon, Ill.

William proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and the Air Force which he retired from with over 20 years of service. He will be remembered by his friends and family as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather with a heart of gold, who was always willing to help anyone who needed it.

He is survived by his mother, Lorraine (Victor) Pittman; his wife of 36 years; two sons, Joshua (Mary) Beranek and Stephen Beranek; two brothers, John (Becky) Beranek and Tom Beranek; five sisters, Nancy (Terry) Erickson, Barb Waln, Marla (Chris) Paris, Susan (Fred) Wyssbrod and Laurie Sauer; one granddaughter, Olive Beranek; and many nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call from 1 to 2:30 p.m. (CST) on Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding with Tony Revord American Legion Post 244 rites at 2:15 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate the life of William Melvin Beranek will be at 2:30 p.m. (CST) on Thursday at the funeral home with Fr. Emmett Norden officiating.
