Clarence J. Theoret

GLADSTONE – Clarence J. Theoret, 88, 7452 Co 426 M.5 Rd, Gladstone, passed away early Tuesday morning, Oct. 15, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital.

He was born on Dec. 19, 1924, in Escanaba, son of Mose and Leah (Gareau) Theoret. Clarence was raised in Flat Rock and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1944. He attended Cloverland College.

Clarence served in the U.S. Army from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1948. He earned a World War II Victory Medal and an Army of Occupation Medal Japan.

On May 20, 1950, Clarence married Phyllis G. Porath at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock.

He was employed at Mead Paper as storeroom clerk until his retirement in 1992.

Clarence enjoyed cutting wood, being on his tractor and gardening, working on cars, playing cards and participating in his church smear league. He loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Clarence was a member of Holy Family Church and was a dedicated Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree member, participating in the Knights of Columbus Rosary and Honor Guard.

Among his survivors include his wife of 63 years, Phyllis of Gladstone; six children, Annette (Fred) Janofski of Kalamazoo, Rev. Glenn Theoret of Manistique, Marilyn (Dennis) Pearson of Escanaba, Nancy (Dave) Gagnon of Gladstone, Daniel (Marti) Theoret of Munising and Steven (Ulla) Theoret of Gladstone; 14 grandchildren, Julie Cutshall, Jeffrey Janofski, Kristin Pearson-Fuhrhop, Gina Laur, Sara Cederna, Trina Pearson, Jeremy and Jessie Gagnon, Ryan and Todd Theoret, Andrea Rollo-Theoret, Thomas, Paul and Hans Theoret; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Theoret of Flat Rock and Alice (Louis) Golembiewski of West Allis, Wis.

Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6 p.m. at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock with Rev. Glenn Theoret and Priests of the Diocese concelebrating.

A luncheon in the church hall will follow the service.

Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery.

In Clarence’s name, memorials may be directed to Holy Family Church.
