James Carra Arp
RAPID RIVER – James Carra Arp, 79, of Rapid River, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania, Ohio.
Jim was born in Madisonville, Tenn., to George W. and Aline (Harris) Arp on Feb. 25, 1934. He retired from Hi-Tech INC, in Livonia, Mich., as a machinist and tool and die maker in 1992. He then retired to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to be in “God’s Country,” he would always say.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary (Juneau) Arp; three sons, Terrance Arp, Kenneth (Michele) Arp, and Dennis (Kay) Arp; three stepchildren, Stephanie (Jeffery) Vargo, MaryAnna (Robert) Costanza, and Stephen Nagy; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his two special loves of his life, dogs, Missy and Malayla; as well as three brothers, Donald Arp, Jerry (Charlene) Arp, and Bob (Pat) Arp.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, George and Aline Arp, and brother, George Arp.
Jim’s family wishes to give their sincere and special thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Charles Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital, Regency Hospital of Toledo, and Ebeid Hospice Residence of Sylvania, Ohio.
At Jim’s request, there will be no public visitation or funeral ceremony. Instead, a memorial will take place on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. at Station 885 in Plymouth, Mich. Locally, a memorial luncheon will be held at New Horizons Ministry, 923 Wisconsin Ave., Gladstone, at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.
