James Verner Anderson

MANISTIQUE – James Verner Anderson, 62, of 125 N. Houghton Ave., Manistique, Mich., passed away Saturday afternoon, Oct. 19, 2013, at his home.

Jim was born May 8, 1951, in West Bend, Wis., the son of Carl Verner and Helen Roxanna (Schnurer) Anderson. He was a graduate of Manistique High School, with the class of 1969.

On June 14, 1969, he married Bonita Lynn Anderson at Bethel Baptist Church in Manistique.

He spent the greater part of his life in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and moved back to the Manistique area in June of this year from the Sturgeon Bay, Wis., area.

Jim enjoyed many occupations; chief among them being a pastor and father. He loved woodworking, hunting, fishing, photography and music. Jim was a true outdoorsman.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonita Lynn Anderson of Manistique, Mich.; daughters, Valerie Billington of Sister Bay, Wis., Sarah Anderson of Tiffin, Ohio, and Ruth Mbiad of Brunswick, Ga.; son, Jonathan Anderson of Coos Bay, Ore.; seven grandchildren; sisters, Janet Pratt of Manistique, Mich., and Lynn Rosebush of Cape Coral, Fla.; and brother, Don Anderson of Elkhart Lake, Wis.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, at the First Baptist Church in Manistique with Rev. Dr. Mark Billington officiating. A reception time will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
