Paulene S. Peterson

GLADSTONE – Paulene S. Peterson, 83, of 1326 Michigan Ave., Gladstone, passed away Sunday evening, Oct. 27, 2013, at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers following a brief illness.

Paulene was born March 7, 1930, in Gladstone, Mich., the daughter of Jack and Theresa (Marohnic) Majestic. She was raised in Gladstone where she was a 1949 graduate of Gladstone High School. Pauline was united in marriage to Robert E. Stephens on Dec. 17, 1949. Robert preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1971.

She married John Peterson on Dec. 8, 1972, and John preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 2012.

Pauline was a member of the Community Church of Christ in Gladstone. She will be remembered for being a wonderful mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed having her children and grandchildren around her. Paulene was an instigator and she loved to tease and have fun with everyone. Her hobbies included collecting thimbles, refrigerator magnets, doing puzzles and making crafts. Paulene was known around town for always sharing her delicious homemade baked goods with everyone.

Survivors include: sons, Michael (Laurel) Stephens of Perronville, Mich., Dorne (Irene) Stephens of Stonington, Kevin (Cheryl) Stephens of Norway, Mich., and Patrick “Dooly” Stephens of Manitowoc, Wis.; daughter, Terri Rossi of Gladstone; brothers, Casimer (Jean) Majestic of Missouri, James Majestic of Gwinn, Mich., and Jack (Betty) Majestic of Gladstone; two stepsons, Kris (Dianna) Peterson of Georgia and Erik Peterson of Missouri; former son-in-law, Mark Rossi of Ann Arbor, Mich.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husbands, her brother Rudy Majestic in World War II, and a stepson, Kevin Peterson, preceded Paulene in death.

Paulene’s family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 1, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Elder Mike Balenger officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Gladstone American Legion Hall. Burial will be in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. Please visit where you can express your sympathy to the family.
