John M. ‘Jack’ Farrell
MARQUETTE – John M. “Jack” Farrell, 81, formerly of Danforth, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette, Mich. He was born Nov. 24, 1931, in Escanaba and was the son of Thomas and Mary (Holland) Farrell. Jack attended Escanaba schools and the enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served from Aug. 14, 1952, until he was honorably discharge with a 100 percent disability on May 14, 1954. Jack did volunteer work at the Salvation Army, he helped with the Salvation Army youth camp in the summer and the Christmas Basket deliveries at Christmastime. He enjoyed going to camp and the outdoors.
John M. “Jack” Farrell is survived by: brothers, Jim (Carolyn) Farrell of Limerick, Pa., Bob (Sally) Farrell of Escanaba; sister, Marilyn (Bob) Wight of Escanaba; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Tom, and sisters, Betty, Mary Lou, Mae, Joyce, Dorothy, Eva Mae and Shirley.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veterans services will be conducted at noon Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services celebrating the life of John M. “Jack” Farrell will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Page officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the Anderson Funeral Home fellowship area. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
