Fatal fire in Iron Mountain

IRON MOUNTAIN – One person was killed in a house fire in Iron Mountain early today.

The blaze started at about 1 a.m. at 309 West D Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found that fire was coming out of a window on the ground floor. They entered the residence, extinguished the fire, and located a single victim.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. A fire marshal was on scene this morning to investigate.

Firefighters said the fire was mostly confined to the room where the victim was found. The rest of the residence sustained smoke damage, they said.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
