Evelyn ‘Evie’ (Borrow) Creten

ESCANABA – Evelyn “Evie” (Borrow) Creten, 98, passed into her new life with the God she so faithfully served on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Christian Park Health Care Center. Evie was born on July 29, 1915, on the family farm at Burnt Bluff, Mich. She moved to Escanaba when she was nine years old and she attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School from which she graduated in 1933. Evie worked first at JC Penney and then for seven years at Lauerman Brothers Clothing in Escanaba. She was also a great money manager and was determined to put all of her children through both Catholic grade and high schools, and she was successful!

Evie was an avid card player all of her life and would be up to a good game anytime or any place as long as it didn’t interfere with her beloved Packers when they were on TV. One of her favorite TV programs was “Wheel of Fortune,” and she allowed no interruptions at that time.

She was a longstanding member of All Saints Catholic Church, Gladstone, and was a Minister of Praise there. Evie was always faithful to prayer and would spend much time each day praying for the needs of her family and for the world.
