Winter parking ban starts
ESCANABA – Local parking restrictions took effect Sunday in Escanaba and Gladstone.
In Escanaba winter parking restrictions start on Dec. 1 and continue through March. During this time parking is restricted to the west side of streets and the north side of avenues between the hours of 7 a.m. and 2 a.m.
On Ludington Street and the adjacent 100 blocks, parking is allowed on both sides of the street with the exception of the 100 blocks of South 15th, South 16th, South 17th, South 18th, South 19th, and 22nd Street.
No vehicles are permitted to be parked for more than one half hour on any street or avenue between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. within the Escanaba city limits.
Winter parking restrictions in Gladstone also began Sunday and will continue until April 1. During this time no parking is permitted at any time on the south side of an avenue or the west side of a street within the city limits. No overnight parking is allowed on either side of streets or avenues between 3:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
Vehicles may not be left on Delta Avenue from 6th Street to 14th Street, 8th Street from Superior Avenue to Minnesota Avenue, 9th Street from Superior Avenue to Minnesota Avenue, 10th Street from Superior Avenue to Lake Shore Drive, and 11th Street from Superior Avenue to Minnesota Avenue between 3:30 and 6:30 a.m. Cars parked on these streets are in a tow away zone and will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Any violations of winter parking restrictions in Gladstone will result in a parking ticket being issued with a fine of $20 per violation, plus the cost of any towing expense.
