E. Virginia Eagleson

ESCANABA – Mrs. E. Virginia Eagleson, 97, Escanaba, formerly of 1012 S. 11th St., died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She had been a resident there for many years. Mrs. Eagleson was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of George and Edna (Dallas) Cochran. She was the eighth of 10 children. She attended the Hamilton schools and, in 1938, graduated from Miami (Ohio) University.

She married H. Scott Eagleson on Nov. 3, 1942, in Hamilton, Ohio. He preceded her in death on June 18,1995.

Mrs. Eagleson was a retired school teacher. She taught in the Hamilton schools before moving to Escanaba in 1947 with Scott, who worked for the Mead Corp. She taught at Escanaba Junior High for two years before raising a family and later returned to teaching in 1963 at Bark River-Harris High School, retiring in 1976. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Escanaba.

She is survived by her two sons, Tom Eagleson of Pleasant Ridge, Mich., and his daughter, Elaine, and Richard Eagleson of California and his daughter, Dorothy; one sister, Mary Thomson of San Francisco; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Delmar and George Cochran; and six sisters, Mildred Schwab, Alice Hill, Edna Snook, Martha Cochran, Melba Henes, and Ellen Briede.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. E. Virginia Eagleson will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with Rev. Scott White officiating. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
