Charles Gilbert ‘Charlie’ Chapman

GLADSTONE – Charles Gilbert “Charlie” Chapman, 64, of 815 Wisconsin Ave., Gladstone, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital in Escanaba.

Charles was born June 2, 1949, in Reno, Nev., the son of Gilbert and Helen (Moldt) Chapman. Following graduation from high school, Charlie served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked for the Arcadia, Calif., Police Department for 32 years until his retirement.

Charlie was united in marriage to the former Anne Olson on Aug. 24, 2012, in Escanaba. He served on the Escanaba D.D.A. as Vice President and he was also a member of the U.M.C.R.R. and the Upper Peninsula Steam and Gas Engine.

In addition to his wife, Anne; survivors include his mother, Helen Chapman of Azusa, Calif.; daughter, Meredith (Andre) Fleche of Rutland, Vt.; brother, Lloyd (Eleanor) Chapman of Alta Loma, Calif.; sister, Carolyn (B.J.) Emry of Dyer, Nev.; numerous nieces; nephews; great nieces; and nephews; and two great nephews; two stepsons; stepgrandchildren; and many friends; and special dog, “Red.”

Charlie’s family will receive friends on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, from 3-5 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. with Rev.
