Linella May Rouse
ESCANABA – Linella May Rouse, 98, of 225 S. Lincoln Road, Escanaba, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Christian Park Village in the comfort of her loving family. She was born on Oct. 10, 1915, in Escanaba and was the daughter of Frederick and Anna (Payette) Fallmer. Linella grew up in the Groos area and attended Escanaba schools.
On June 18, 1938, the former Linella May Fallmer married Raymond W. Rouse in Escanaba. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in June of 1988. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1992.
Linella was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, the ladies aid, church choir, and taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She loved her family and enjoyed her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and spending time with her sisters.
She loved gardening and was known for her beautiful flowers. In her younger years, she was employed at the Wooden Works Company in Escanaba and later worked as a nanny for several families. Linella was “grandma” to Mary Beth and Christine Buchanan; Holly Couillard Howes, Heather Couillard DeMay; Tadj and Tanya Geyewski; Scott, Brian, and Christine Larson.
She is survived by: daughter, Janet M. (Harold) McCotter-Radloff, 5861 LL Road, Garden; grandchildren, Stephen L. (Dr. Amy B.) Martin, College Park, Md., Christine B. Martin (Chris D.), Palm Harbor, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Kerri Lynn Martin, Milwaukee, Wis., Brennan L. Martin, Austin, Texas; sisters, Lorraine Cassidy, Chicago, Ill., Marcella Platt, Marquette, Germain Deno, Escanaba, Arlene LaCasse, Wells; sister-in-law, Idabelle Reider, Mt. Pleasant, Wis.; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded death by her parents. Frederick and Anna; husband, Raymond; brothers, Byron and Glenn Fallmer; sisters, Armona Fallmer, Myra Wilson, Marian Steele, Fern Berro and Inez Wolfgram; and son-in-law, Philip H. McCotter.
A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Linella May Rouse will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul Doletzky officiating. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the funeral service.
