ESCANABA – Dieter Hillesheim, 76, of 510 1st. Ave. S., Escanaba, Mich. (Harbor Towers Apartments), passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette. He was born Nov. 19, 1937, in Limburg, Germany, and was the son of Marcel and Anna (Kohlepp) Hillesheim. Dieter moved to the United States and attended and graduated from Rutgers University in New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 until he was honorably discharged in 1964. Dieter was employed in many different jobs throughout is career working locally as a mechanic at Riverside Auto and retiring from the ore docks in Escanaba.
Dieter Hillesheim is survived by: son, Brian Hillesheim of Germany; brothers, Pete (Carol) Hillesheim of Green Bay, Wis., and Raymond (Kathleen) Anderson of California; previous wife, the former Helen Nelson; several nieces and nephews.
