MARINETTE – Ronald Vanlerberghe, 74, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
He was born on Oct. 19, 1939, in Escanaba, son of Howard L. and Anita (Davis) Vanlerberghe. Ronald graduated from Escanaba High School in 1957.
Ronald was an Airman 2nd Class in the Air Force from July 1, 1957, until his honorable discharge on Nov. 30, 1959.
He had worked for Chicago-Northwestern Railroad, Marinette Water Utility and was the owner of MBK Sportshop in Marinette, Wis., until his retirement.
Ronald was a hunter safety instructor for 27 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting sports, and spending time with friends at his beloved camp. Ronald was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
He was a member of the NRA, Ridgerunners Muzzleload Club, Porterfield Sportsman Club, U.P. Whitetails, M & M Whitetails, North American Turkey Federation, and Great Lakes Sports Fisherman.
Among survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Sue (Craig) DelFosse of Little Chute, Wis.; sons, Christopher Jon of Marinette, Ross Steven of Green Bay, and Scott of Waukesha, Wis.; grandchildren, Samantha Vanlerberghe, Stephanie (Brandan) Mendenhall, and Joshua DelFosse; great-granddaughter, Kadence Vanlerberghe; sisters, Shirlee Lancour and Joan (Ross) Rhoads, both of Escanaba; brothers, James (Joan) of Green Bay, Terry (Judith) of Rapid River and Dennis of Long Beach, Calif.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Delta County Veterans Council will have military rites at 2 p.m.
The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Vanlerberghe family.
