Marilyn M. Labre

ESCANABA – Marilyn M. Labre, 86, Escanaba, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Christian Park Village in Escanaba.

She was born on April 16, 1927, in Escanaba, daughter of Edward J. and Violet M. (Dault) Demerse Sr. Marilyn graduated from Escanaba High School in 1944.

On Sept. 22, 1951, Marilyn M. Demerse married George Labre at St. Joseph Church. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2008.

Marilyn worked part-time for Dr. T. McInerney and Dr. Edna McInerney’s office and at West End Drug Store.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church for 53 years before their closure. She currently was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

Marilyn enjoyed knitting, golfing, bowling, going to the casino, and watching her grandchildren in their sporting events. She was an avid Green Bay Packer and Detroit Red Wing fan.

Among survivors include her two sons, Rodney (Kim) and Patrick Labre, all of Escanaba; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Blickham, Steven (Karolynne) Labre, Luke, Paige, and Brett Labre; three great-grandchildren, Bennett Blickham, Lexi Anne Labre and Channing Krahling; brother, Melton Demerse; special niece and nephew, Tom (Tina) Demerse and Marlee (Bill) Brice and their families; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward (Marianne) Demerse; sister-in-law, Josephine Demerse; and nephews, Robert and James Demerse.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Rev. Rick Courier officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Entombment will take place on Friday in Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance and the Salvation Army. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
