Golden wedding anniversary
GLADSTONE – Les and Linda Delvaux of Gladstone (Flat Rock) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 25, with a dinner at The Oaks Restaurant with family and friends. The event was hosted by the couple’s children.
Les and the former Linda Anderson were married Jan. 25, 1964, at a morning ceremony held at The Gretna Green Wedding Chapel in Downey, Calif. Presiding over the ceremony was Rev. W.A. Asbill. Maid of honor for the bride was Barbara (Delvaux) Park and the best man was Wendell M. Park Jr. (deceased) of Lakewood, Calif. An evening dinner was served to guests at Joe’s Steakhouse in Lakewood, Calif., and a honeymoon followed the next weekend at Disneyland.
Les was employed by Gust K. Newberg Construction Company of Los Angeles.
Les and Linda are the parents of two children, a daughter, Dawn (Scott) Hanson of Escanaba, and a son, Darren (Jen) Delvaux of Ada, Mich. They also have five grandchildren, Jordan and Joshua Lanasa, Jared Hanson, and Madison and Drew Delvaux.
Les served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959-1963. He retired from Mead WestVaco in December 2002 after 33 years of employment.
Linda retired in February 2002 from Peninsula Federal Credit Union after 22 years.
Les and Linda have enjoyed 12 years of going south to Gulf Shores, Ala., with many Delta County friends. They are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church and enjoy working with the pasty group.
Both also enjoy playing cribbage and pinochle, attending country music concerts, going for walks, and attending their grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events.
