Ronald F. Jenkins
CARNEY – Ronald F. Jenkins, 82 of Carney, Mich., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers, Mich. Ron was born on Feb. 22, 1931, in Hermansville, Mich., to the late John and Veronica (O’Sullivan) Jenkins. Ron proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. On Aug. 4, 1951, Ron married the former Cecilia Thiry at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Nadeau, Mich. Ron was a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed politics, following local basketball in Carney, deer hunting, going to camp and morning coffee with friends at the Carney Legion. Ron was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church. He was a former Nadeau Township supervisor. Ron also served as the Nadeau Township assessor for many years until his retirement on Dec. 1, 2013.
Survivors include his wife, Cecilia of Carney, Mich.; five sons, Ed (Sue) of Carney, Mich., Ted of Carney, Mich., Steve of Carney, Mich., Jim of Nadeau, Mich., and Larry (Kathy) of Carney, Mich.; two daughters, Nancy (Donald) Bunch of Spalding, Mich., and Susan Polczinski of Oconto Falls, Wis.; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by a son in law, Nick, two brothers and one sister.
Family will receive friends at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Nadeau, Mich., on Friday Jan. 31, after 9 a.m. until time of military rites at 10:45 a.m. followed by a Eulogy. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. with Father Michael Vichich officiating. Burial will be in Nadeau Township Cemetery in the spring. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
