Linda Rose (Deneau) Thomma

ESCANABA – Linda Rose (Deneau) Thomma passed away Monday evening, Feb. 3, 2014, in the home of her sister Catherine Dausey after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her children and several other members of her family.

Linda was born Dec. 15, 1952, to the late Walter J. and Marie V. (Micheau) Deneau. She married Matthew Lee “Dipper” Thomma of the Soo Hill area on June 4, 1977. She was a longtime Delta County resident.

Places Linda worked included Robinson Furniture, Busy Bee Cafe, Hardee’s and Home Health for the Community Action Agency.

Linda enjoyed going camping, bingo, playing cards and board games with her grandchildren along with being their number 1 fan at baseball and football games. She also enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the movies.

In addition to her husband, Matthew; survivors include her daughters, Amy Thomma of Escanaba and LeeAnn (Matt) Donalds of Escanaba; son, Justin (Amanda) Thomma of Escanaba; grandchildren, Robert, Bryan and Haylee Donalds and Gabreilla and Morgan Matthew Thomma who is due in March; step-grandson, Johnathon Hardwick-Santaniello; six brothers, Walter (Liz) Deneau of Gladstone, Rodger (Hope) Deneau of Rapid River, James (Jenny Silsby) Deneau of Lyndon Station, Wis., John (Linda) Deneau of Corona, Calif., Donald (Sue) Deneau of Gladstone, Francis (Carlene Groleau) Deneau; three sisters, Theresa (Gary) Johnson of Cornell, Nancy (Kenny) Green of Munising, Cassie Dausey of Gladstone; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Mary “Pye” Dausey; six infant brothers and sisters; three brother-in-laws, Donald Fleury, Chuck Dausey, Carl Dausey; and one sister-in-law, Evelyn (Pardee) Deneau.

Linda’s family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Linda Thomma will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. William Rafuse of the Rapid River Congregational Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Upper Peninsula State Bank for a benefit for Linda, which will be held March 9.
