Alice M. Porior

COLEMAN, Wis. – Alice M. Porior, 96, of Coleman, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born to the late John Peter and Helen (Stark) Zehren Oct. 15, 1917, in Cream City, Wis.

Alice married Joseph M. Porior June 29, 1940, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Appleton. The couple raised eight children on a dairy farm near Klondike until retiring to the Rost Lake area. They were very active members of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Klondike, and she was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Coleman.

Joseph preceded her in death Oct. 14, 1976. “Alice was a loving wife, nurturing and compassionate mother, and tender caregiver to friends and family. We especially remember her faithfulness to her wedding vows (good times and bad), love of her family and loyalty to friends and community. We miss her.”

Surviving are eight children, John (Linda) Porior, Oshkosh, Donald (Carmen) Porior, Coos Bay, Ore., Richard (Man-Li “Dori”) Porior, DePere, Carl (Kathy) Porior, Pound, Helen (John) Steffel, Platte City, Mo., Dennis (Barb) Porior, Escanaba, Marie (Ron) Yanzer, La Crosse, Wis., Cheryl (Jim) Mayhew, Oregon, Wis.; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Clark of Combined Locks, Wis.; and one brother, Joseph Zehren, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; one son, David Porior in 1941; one sister, Helen Corso; and one brother, John Zehren.

Relatives and friends may call at the Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home, 235 E. Main St., Coleman Sunday, Feb. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be a 7 p.m. Wake Service. Visitation will continue Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, Coleman from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Father Celestine Byekwaso officiating. She will be placed to rest at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery, Klondike. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund for scholarship has been established.
