Fredrick ‘Fred’ E. Coppock

RAPID RIVER – Fredrick “Fred” E. Coppock, 82, of Rapid River, passed away on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.

Fred was born May 3, 1931, in Wells, Mich., the son of Delos and Olive (Hicks) Coppock. He was raised in Perkins but eventually transferred into the Gladstone school system where he graduated from the Gladstone High School as the class valedictorian. He was united in marriage to Jacqueline Buntjer of July 15, 1950. Fred worked as a general contractor with the Cloverland Construction and Supply Company and enjoyed fly fishing and playing guitar with his family and friends.

Fred is survived by his wife Jacqueline of Rapid River; four sons, Danny (Diane) of Gladstone, Gary (Linda) of New London, Wis., Michael (Connie) of Weyauwega, Wis. and Joseph (Michele Willeby) of Rapid River; one daughter, Pamela Cole-Coppock of Gladstone; grandchildren, Janell (Jim) Gross, Audrey (Robert) Coch, Justin Eri Coppock, Jennifer Gardner, Michelle (Tim) Bellile, Stephen (Andrea) Olk, Suzanne (Matt) Heuer, Natalie Coppock, Brad (Megan) Darvin, Jodi Darvin, Ryan (Jana) Nantelle, Jennifer Nantelle, Cohl (Abby) Coppock-Stewart, Tyler (Agnieszka) Coppock, Amanda (Russell) Sargent and Thomas Coppock; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Darlene (Ted) Boggs of Sulfer Springs, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Louis, Glade, Eugene, Robert, Carlyle and James.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 21 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Jacek Wtyklo officiating. Fred will be laid to rest in the Rapid River Cemetery.
