Phillip Earl Jones

ESCANABA – Phillip Earl Jones, 60, died on Feb. 24, 2014, at Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba of complications from a stroke and various other illnesses.

Phillip was born on Sept. 15, 1953, in Escanaba, son of Warren L. and Barbara M. (Davis) Jones of Gladstone. He was raised in Gladstone and attended Gladstone Area High School. He was employed for several years at Northern Michigan Spliced Veneers in Gladstone, and also worked in the oil fields in Kansas, and as a driver for various trucking firms in Wisconsin. For more than 25 years, he was employed at Aarrowcast Foundry in Shawano, Wis. He was an avid hunter and looked forward each year to firearm deer season.

He is survived by his father, Warren; one brother, Andrew Jones of Gladstone; two sons, Christopher and Jason, in Wisconsin; daughter, Kristy Lynn, of Escanaba; stepson, Gary Sovey; seven grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

His mother, who passed away 16 days prior to his death, one brother and daughter also preceded him in death.
