Area residents named to GVSU dean’s list

ALLENDALE – Fifteen area local residents are among the students at Grand Valley State University who were placed on the dean’s list for the Fall 2013 semester concluding in December. The list includes those students who have maintained a 3.5 grade point average and been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits. The honor is noted on the students’ official records.

Students honored for the fall semester include:

BARK RIVER – Mitchell K. Johnson, Kevin C. Noel, and Collete M. Robinson.

GLADSTONE – Hilary M. Austin, Jenna J. Bernson, Jammie M. Botruff, Sydney R. Cooper, Nicholas J. Olesak, Abigail L. Riggio, and Alissa M. Riggio.

GWINN – Kristina M. Thompson.

MANISTIQUE – Melinda S. Hoholik, Kyra A. Lauzon, and Kelsey A. Vanamberg.

STEPHENSON – Taryn L. Carlson.

WILSON – Teresa M. LaBadie.

Michigan Tech announces graduates

HOUGHTON – Michigan Technological University honored the achievements of more than 400 graduates in mid-December at Midyear Commencement, including the following students from the local area.

CORNELL – Jacob Lund, bachelor’s degree in computer science.

ESCANABA – Travis Berro, master’s degree in civil engineering.

GLADSTONE – Ian Bader, bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; and Christopher Nelson, bachelor’s degree in computer science.

MANISTIQUE – Nikita Sokolov, bachelor’s degree in computer systems science.
