Blaze destroys home
FORD RIVER – Fire destroyed a home in Ford River Township Saturday according to officials from the Ford River Township Fire Department.
Around 11:15 a.m. Saturday, firefighters were called to the home of Wally and Linda Dahl, 3450 19th Lane in Ford River Township. The two-story home with a single car garage located beneath the home on the first level was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene.
The home was an all-wood structure and was heated by an external wood heater, which helped to fuel the blaze. After five hours of battling the fire, firefighters left the scene around 4:18 p.m.
No one was injured in the fire, however the family’s dog is believed to have died in the blaze. The building and all its contents are considered a total loss. The home was insured.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Ford River firefighters were assisted at the scene by Escanaba Public Safety, Rampart EMS, UPPCO, and the Red Cross.
