Lorraine Faye (Polmateer) Vannberg

NEVADA CITY, Calif. – Lorraine Faye (Polmateer) Vannberg, passed away Feb. 22, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family after a short illness.

Lorraine was born in Escanaba, March 15, 1926, the daughter of Herman and Ruth (Oliver) Polamateer. She attended Escanaba High School graduating in June of 1944. After graduation, Lorraine was employed at Michigan Bell.

On Sept. 25, 1949, Lorraine married Robert Vannberg in Menominee, making their home in Escanaba until Bob returned to the Navy. In November of 1953, Bob and Lorraine moved to Nevada City, Calif., where they have resided for approximately the last 60 years.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Robert; son, David (Rosie) Vannberg, Nevada City; daughter, Mary Ruth (John) Thomas, Wash.; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her four sisters, Shirley Keefe, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Stella (Bruce) Andrews, Cornell, Patricia (Raymond) Menard, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Jean Derouin of Watsonville, Calif.

Services will be held in Nevada City, Calif., on Saturday, March 8. Lorraine will be buried in Grass Valley, Calif. Messages of condolences may be sent to 12055 Ore de Gold, Nevada City, Calif. 95959.
