Sons of American Legion Post 244 honored
POWERS – The Sons of the American Legion Post 244 of Powers received a 100 percent membership plaque for fiscal year 2013/14.
The Legion Sons consist of the sons of Legion members, either past or present, or a son of a deceased veteran who was eligible to be a Legionnaire. The Sons are active in assisting the American Legion in all activities, including fund-raising for community and youth programs, veteran visits and projects, veterans’ funerals and color guards.
The Powers S.A.L. is also instrumental in fund-raising for the local food bank in Hermansville, helping with Veteran’s Day ceremonies at both North Central School in November, and sponsoring boys to the Department’s Boys’ State Program.
The presentation was made at the recent U.P. Association of American Legion Posts Winter Conference held at American Legion Post 50 in Iron Mountain.
