Character does count!

RAPID RIVER – Character counts and that was the focus at the Rapid River School recently. The Town and Country Family, Community, Education study group were present to award the winners of the organization’s “Character Counts” essay and poster contest.

This year’s pillar is “Respect” and all three winners were from Sandy Sauve’s fourth-grade class. The first place award went to Madilynne LaChance for her entry, “Talking in Class is Disrespectful.” Second place was won by Addie Christoff and third went to Maddison Kee.

Madilynne’s essay and poster are now entered in the state FCE contest for statewide consideration. Monetary gifts were presented to the contestants with $25 for first place, $20 to second and $15 for third. Book markers and note booklets were presented to all the participants.

Madilynne and her parents are invited to the club’s International meal, featuring “Holland” to be held April 21, at the Rapid River Calvary Lutheran Church. Madilynne will be honored by the club and will present her essay on respect.
