Lois Mae McPherson

GLADSTONE – Lois Mae McPherson, 71, of 1212 Dakota Ave., Gladstone, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, at her home in Gladstone. She was born May 28, 1942, in Escanaba, Mich., and was the daughter of Oscar Rudolph and Verna (Brotherton) Anderson. She graduated from Gladstone High School in 1960 and then attended Augustana Nursing School.

The former Lois Anderson married James McPherson on Oct. 21, 1961, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Over the years Lois had a day care for children, worked at the Rapid River Ranger Station in Rapid River for the U.S. Forest Service and most recently was the night manager for the Econo Lodge Motel in Escanaba until her retirement in 2011. Lois was a member of the First Lutheran Church, was a den mother for the Cub Scouts, and enjoyed car rides, getting together with friends and spending time on her computer and Facebook.

Lois Mae McPherson is survived by: husband, James; sons, Matthew (Marie) McPherson of Davis, Calif., William (Mary) McPherson of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; three grandchildren, Sam, Amanda and Steven; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Peterson.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lois Mae McPherson will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Peggy Rose officiating. Burial will take place in the Fernwood Cemetery.
