Crawford B. Perkins

CURTIS – Crawford B. Perkins, 85, of Curtis, Mich., and former Escanaba resident, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, at Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique, Mich. He was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Germfask, Mich., and was the son of Crawford C. and Edith (Norton) Perkins. Crawford graduated from high school and then attended Northern Michigan University.

He married the former Mary Nicholas on Sept. 10, 1949, in Escanaba and she preceded him in death on May 16, 1999. Crawford was employed as a truck driver for Clairmont Transfer Company in Escanaba, logging over a million and a half miles without an accident. After Clairmont closed he worked for various other trucking companies until his retirement.

Crawford B. Perkins is survived by: son, John (Kathy) Perkins of Escanaba; daughters, Ellen (Ron) Osterhout of Curtis, Mich., Mary (Bill) Flath of Gladstone, Nancy (Michael) McKnight of Escanaba; three grandchildren, Susan (Dave) Doan, Diane (Jim) Robinson and Steven (Hannah) Perkins; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Logan and Claire; brother, William (Jacquie) Perkins of Curtis; sister, Alice Feneley of Curtis, Mich.; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by sons William and Dennis, and brother Edward, and sister Edith.

Private family visitation and funeral service were held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Burial will take place in the spring of the year at Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba.
