Darlene M. ‘Dar’ Rodgers

GLADSTONE – Darlene M. “Dar” Rodgers, 60, of 8973 Kipling R.5 Lane, Gladstone, passed away Monday evening, April 7, 2014, at the Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.

Darlene was born Aug. 25, 1953, in Manistique, Mich., the daughter of Perry and Margaret (Willis) Pardee. Dar was raised in Garden as part of a large family which consisted of 18 brothers and sisters. She eventually left the area and settled in Rapid River’s Kipling area.

She loved to work with flowers and plants. She was employed for several years at Tryans Greenhouse, a job she truly enjoyed. She also loved to teach anyone who would ask her, how to grow and care for flowers and plants. Every spring she would have flowers planted in her front yard for all to enjoy.

In addition to her partner, Charles Muntwyler, she is survived by many siblings and nieces and nephews, but was especially close to her sister Tommy. She is also survived by two adult daughters, Sherry Pardee and Tami Einarsson.

In addition to her parents, Dar was preceded in death by her daughter, baby Dar, and two of her brothers Larry Pardee and Daniel Pardee, and one sister, Evelyn Deneau.

Darlene’s family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Darlene M. Rodgers will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Tony Morrison officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Gladstone Senior Center.
