Eli G. Constantino

GLADSTONE – Eli G. Constantino, 84, of 2722 South Hill Road, Gladstone, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.

He was born July 17, 1929 in Ogontz and was the son of Max and Elizabeth (Armstrong) Constantino. He graduated from Rapid River High School in 1948. Eli married the former Clara Bingham on Jan. 24, 1953, at the Congregational Church in Rapid River and she preceded in him in death on March 8, 2008. Eli and Clara raised their children and lived in Ogontz until they moved to Gladstone 10 years ago.

Eli ran the family farm in Ogontz, later worked construction and then was self-employed as a logger before going to work for Harnischfeger Corporation. After P & H closed Eli delivered lumber for Anderson Lumber Company in Rapid River. He was a member of Grace Church in Gladstone, the UAW Union, and the Gladstone and Rapid River Senior Center. Eli loved spending time with family, friends and his dog. He enjoyed playing cribbage, traveling, playing horseshoes and going to plays at Player de Noc in Escanaba. Eli also did volunteer work, as a transporter, at Bay Pines Detention Center

Eli G. Constantino is survived by: sons, Stanley (Sally) Constantino of Rapid River, Steven (Michelle Lamarque) Constantino of Rapid River; daughters, Rhonda Constantino of New London, Wis., Kelly (Anthony Mathias) Constantino of Rapid River, Karla Constantino of Golden Valley, Minn.; 15 grandchildren, Becki Smith, Aimee Carignan, Stanley Jr. (Spike) Constantino, Randy Constantino, Max Constantino, Alex Constantino, Geno Constantino, Heather Giesen, Kyle Giesen, Ethan Giesen, Vincent Jarvey, Nichole Jarvey, Ryan Jarvey, Larissa Wils and Dylan Constantino; 26 great-grandchildren; brother and sister in law, Jesse (Pat) Bingham of Nahma; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by daughters, Marsha and Maxine; sister Mary St. Aubin; brothers John, Richard, Ervin, Leslie, Mike and Dave Constantino; and great-grandchild, Kazyah Jarvey.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Grace Church in Gladstone.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Eli G. Constantino will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Grace Church in Gladstone with Dr. Stephen Patrick, pastor, officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the church fellowship hall.

Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
