County requests governor’s state of emergency declaration
ESCANABA – Delta County will submit a request for Gov. Rick Snyder to declare a “state of emergency” in Delta County due to the severe cold weather that has caused many frozen water pipes.
Members of the Delta County Board of Commissioners approved submitting the request during a special board meeting Thursday morning.
According to Delta County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Berbohm, on Wednesday 12 water spouts were observed coming from the Escanaba Water Treatment Plant. The city is currently working on a damage assessment for this issue.
See Friday’s edition of the Daily Press for more on the county’s decision.
