Guilty verdict in fatal accident case
ESCANABA – A Marquette County man was convicted today of six 15-year felonies in connection with the deaths of an Escanaba couple who died from injuries suffered in an auto accident in Gladstone last year.
A Delta County Circuit Court jury declared Harley Davidson Durocher, 25, of Little Lake, guilty of two counts of reckless driving causing death; two counts of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license causing death; and two counts of operating a motor vehicle with the presence of a controlled substance (marijuana) causing death.
Durocher was driving a logging truck north on U.S. 2 and 41 and M-35 on March 20, 2013, when he did not stop at a red light and struck a vehicle occupied by Tom and Barbara Swift, each 73 when they died.
