Ohman winner of Icebreaker truck contest
ESCANABA – The winner of the Bark River Lions Icebreaker truck contest has been announced. Cheryl Ohman will take home a $1,580 prize.
The goal of the contest was to guess the correct time that a truck placed on the frozen bay by the Escanaba Municipal Dock would break through the ice. After weeks sitting on the ice, the truck broke through at 3:13:25 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Ohman’s winning entry guessed the time at Thursday, April 24, at 3:13 p.m. – just 25 seconds from the exact time.
In addition to the cash award – 50 percent of the total cash purse – Ohman will receive $500 in Firestone tires from Mr. Tire, and two passes to the Bark River International Raceway.
The submerged truck will be removed from the bay sometime in the next two weeks, a Bark River Lions spokesman said.
