Evelyn J. Vorin
SPALDING – Evelyn J. Vorin, 92, Spalding, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born May 15, 1921, in Spalding, daughter of the late Theodore and (Philomene) Gatien. On Oct. 21, 1950, she married the late Wilfred “Joe” Vorin at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Spalding.
Evelyn was an avid reader and also enjoyed walking, watching game shows, visiting with friends and spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.
She was a lifelong member of St. John Neumann Church where she had been a Catechism teacher in the past. Her family and friends will remember her for her deep devotion to her religion and the many hours she spent praying for anyone in need.
She is survived by her three children, Bill (Linda) Vorin, Darlene Vorin and Janis Vorin; three grandchildren, Rob (Dana), Jenny and Keith Vorin; two great-grandchildren, Zoe Evelyn Vorin and Kristin Malone; extended grandchildren, Brandon, Myah, Trevor, Taylor, Cole and Aiden; as well as special friends, nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Francis E. Burke and Wilfred Joseph Vorin; a son, Gary Vorin; three brothers, Leo, Ron and Roy Gatien; and two sisters, Isabelle Gatien and Yvette Gagne.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. (CST) on Friday, May 2, at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding with the St. Anne’s Rosary at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. (CST) on Friday at church with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass in the church parish hall. Burial will take place in the Spalding Township Cemetery.
