Levin’s office solves problems with VA

EDITOR:

I would like to thank Sen. Levin and his staff for the prompt help I got from them concerning the VA. Its been a nightmare for the past 2.5 years, dealing with bills I didn’t owe. Procedures I did not get. I’m 76 years old. Ninety percent of the votes I cast for politicians were Republican.

So to get help I called Congressman Dan Benishek’s office in Washington, was told they didn’t handle VA complaints there, but to call their regional offices in Marquette or Iron Mountain. She connected me with Marquette. The lady in that office said the person I needed to talk to was out of the office at that time. but if I left a message he would get back to me. I called Iron Mountain and was told the same thing.

So I called Sen. Levin’s office in Escanaba. The lady there made copies of my complaint. She faxed them to a VA case worker in Detroit, it would be handled from there.

Today, three weeks after talking to the lady in Escanaba, I received a phone call from VA in Gainesville, Fla., that they got a correspondence from Sen. Levin’s office, upon their investigation of my complaint, I was improperly billed. They contacted the IRS to stop any action against me. I would receive a rebate check in four to six weeks.

So for any vets out there that are having problems with the VA, I am sure you will get the same help I got from Senator Levin’s office.
